GASTRONOMY

I love gastronomy and I value cooking with fresh products very much, something which is not that easy to find. This is why I do not hesitate to recommend the following restaurants:

Taberna del Puerto (telephone 928.512882)

Open all day. Closed on Thursday. Good selection of fresh fish and meat. ( Typical Spanish dishes are offered ) The menu is good but you should also listen to the suggestions of the fresh dishes of the day.

La Bodega  (telephone 928.830147)

You will find La Bodega on the road from Macher to Uga on the left after you see the road that goes  to la Geria, They do not have a menu and what is offered is top quality which will be reflected in the bill. The Royal Family and the local jet set are customers.

Amanecer

On the main street of Arrieta. They don’t take bookings and they close on Thursdays. The speciality is local fresh fish such as Cherne, Vieja, Cantarero. The view from the terrace is great and it is well worth waiting for a table at the bar with a drink. Service is quick.

Mar Azul (telephone 928.173132)

It is situated in the middle of the village of El Golfo, on the right of the main street, although there are tables overlooking the sea where you can enjoy spectacular sunsets. We suggest baked or fried fish as well as grilled squid. Their speciality is ¨Caldoso ¨ a local soupy rice dish with seafood such as lobster, prawns or red prawns.

Restaurante Amura

In Puerto Calero at the very end of the marina. It is open from 11:00 to 23:0 and but closes on Mondays. It is an elegant restaurant built in a Colonial style. They offer classical Mediterranean and Spanish cuisine. An ideal place for couples with its exquisite atmosphere and moderate prices.

TAPAS IN TÍAS

On the Main Street, around the small, restaured chapel, you can find 3 bars that offer tapas, hors d´oeuvres and small rations of delicious home cooking. The food offered, together with the quality of their wines at moderate prices can  be found in.

Café Central.  –  La Ermita.   –  Café Bodega Correos
